A sparkling, rejuvenated smile can dramatically refresh your appearance. If you struggle with dental discoloration, consider teeth whitening treatment at one of our conveniently located Ford Bend practices. Our doctors offer both in-office and take-home treatments. Either option can lighten your teeth by six shades or more. As part of our Zoom!® whitening package, we will also provide you with free touch-up trays and professional-strength bleaching gel when you come to see us for your routine check-ups and cleanings. With these regular touch-ups, your bright new smile can dazzle for years to come.

Our Teeth Whitening Options

We offer two types of Zoom!® teeth whitening:

In-office whitening

If you would like instant results, consider in-office Zoom!® whitening. First, your dentist will note the original color of your teeth with a shade guide. Then, he will apply a liquid coating to the gums which will harden to form a barrier over the sensitive tissue. Finally, your doctor will coat your teeth with a whitening solution which he will activate with a laser. The laser triggers an oxidation process to break apart dental stains. Typically, your dentist will remove the gel and then perform two more rounds of this process to achieve your desired results.

Take-home whitening

Take-home whitening kits offer comparable results to in-office care. Take-home whitening is an excellent option if you are looking for a more affordable treatment. Your dentist will take impressions of your teeth and then use these molds to design custom-made whitening trays. At home, you will fill these trays with bleaching gel and wear them every day for about 30 minutes, for the number of days prescribed by your dentist. Similar to the in-office treatment, oxygen molecules will penetrate your enamel and gradually lighten external dental stains.

Is Teeth Whitening Right for You?

If you have minor to moderate discoloration, teeth whitening is likely a good solution. Before undergoing whitening, you should be in generally good dental health. Your dentist will need to treat decay or gum disease before recommending cosmetic dentistry.

Teeth whitening can brighten your smile up to several shades for dramatic results.

If you already struggle with dental sensitivity, you may worry that whitening will worsen this problem. Fortunately, with advanced methods of whitening, our treatment causes minimal discomfort. The best way to protect yourself against this side effect is to choose professional teeth whitening administered by a trained dentist.

When you maintain regular exams and checkups, we will provide you with free whitening trays and gel for touch-ups.

Note that teeth whitening is appropriate for external stains. If you want to address internal discoloration, porcelain veneers or related procedures may be best for you.

Benefits of Teeth Whitening at Ford Bend Dental

In-office and take-home whitening can dramatically reduce stains. Results are not permanent, and stains will eventually reappear, especially if you regularly consume dark-colored foods and beverages. Nevertheless, at Fort Bend Dental, we are committed to your long-term care. That is why when enrolled in our endless whitening program and maintain your regular exams and checkups, we will provide you with free whitening trays and gel. You can easily perform routine touch-ups at home, extending the results of your treatment for years.
