The CEREC® machine at our Fort Bend Dental offices allows our doctors to provide you with same-day dental crowns. With this advanced technology, we can design, create, and place your crown in a single appointment. Traditional crowns typically require two separate office visits over the course of two weeks. Now we can provide you with beautiful, high-quality restorations in a single visit, saving you time and money.
How CEREC® Works
CEREC® technology uses an advanced digital imaging system to take impressions of your tooth. These impressions are then transferred to the software, so your dentist can design your custom crown. He can select the optimal shade of porcelain and then automated milling tools create the custom crown. We can also use this technology to create smaller traditional bridges.

What to Expect when Receiving a Same-day Crown
The first step in receiving a same-day crown is eliminating the damaged and decayed areas of the tooth. Additionally, your doctor will need to reshape the tooth to create enough space to accommodate a dental crown. Once the tooth reshaping is complete, your doctor will take digital impressions of your tooth, which will determine the precise measurements needed for your crown. After selecting the appropriate shade of the crown to match your surrounding teeth, the milling process will begin.
There is a brief waiting period while your crown is created. Your doctor has exceptional control over the final product, and can make adjustments to the crown as needed to ensure an optimal fit. Once the crown is ready, your doctor will carefully cement it in place, and can make any necessary adjustments to maintain the balance and comfort of your bite.
The Benefits of CEREC®
CEREC® technology offers numerous benefits. It eliminates the need for multiple visits, as well as the need for the placement of a temporary crown between visits. Because all the work is completed in-house rather than in a dental laboratory, there are cost savings as well. Our doctors are completely in control of your restoration and the outcome, so they can ensure the crown aligns with your bite and seamlessly blends with the rest of your smile.
The porcelain restorations are strong and durable, reinforcing your tooth and restoring its functionality. They also completely seal the tooth, protecting it from future damage and decay. A CEREC®-made crown can last just as long as traditionally made crowns, but offer the convenience of a single appointment.
Find Out if a Same-day Crown is Right for You
If you have a tooth that is badly decayed, or a tooth that is chipped, cracked, fractured, or otherwise damaged, you can likely benefit from a dental crown made with our CEREC® technology. Our dentists can carefully evaluate the tooth to determine whether a more conservative restoration is an option. If not, they can move forward with creating a customized crown during your appointment. If you are suffering from tooth pain, contact us today to schedule an appointment and find out if you are in need of a dental crown.
